PURPOSE: A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery is provided to effectively controlling the swelling of the electrode, and to secure the structural stability and the electrochemical propery of the electrode. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery is formed with a multilayer thin film structure. The multilayer thin film structure includes a metal current collector(40), an active layer(20) consisting of a negative electrode active material, and a buffer layer(30) consisting of materials with the strong chemical bond property. The buffer layer is formed with diamond carbon. The thickness of a thin film formed with the active layer is 10~50 nanometers. The thickness of a thin film formed with the buffer layer is 1~10 nanometers.
