The assembly has a lighting device (8) controlled by a control unit and arranged below a cooking top (1). The cooking top and a casing (6) are arranged in an opening of a work top, where the casing is constituted of a base wall (6e), a front peripheral wall, a lateral peripheral wall, another lateral peripheral wall (6c) and a rear peripheral wall. The lighting device is located between a cooking plate (3) of the cooking top and the work top. A part of the lighting device is located at exterior of the opening of the work top so as to form a lighting zone.
