<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrangement structure of an upper nozzle in which the nozzle hole has a flat shape, which shows the optimum arrangement giving the minimum intrusion amount of slag included in molten metal made to flow out from a molten metal vessel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The flat cross-section of the nozzle hole 10 formed at the upper nozzle installed in the bottom of the molten metal vessel 11 is set to have a flat shape with the major axis 12 and the minor axis at least in the upper edge part, and the angle R on the acute angle side formed between a straight line 13 passing through the center P of the nozzle hole 10 and the center C of the molten metal vessel 11 and the major axis 12 of the nozzle hole 10 is controlled to +30° to -30°.
