<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the tilting of a workpiece within an image in an imaging processing process for performing image processing, and to improve the accuracy of detection of the position of the workpiece within an image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this method of detecting the position of the workpiece, crystal oscillating piece 98 to be inspected is photographed by a third photographing section 175, and position information of the crystal oscillating piece 98 within the image photographed by the third photographing section 175 is detected by image processing. This method of detecting the position has a position detecting process of determining the tilting information of the crystal oscillating piece 98 within the image based on the position information of the center of gravity position of the crystal oscillating piece 98 within the image.
