PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image forming control to obtain the position of a conveyance belt for conveying a development agent image while restraining consumption of a development agent. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the conveyance belt 38 which includes a first portion 38a with a first resistance and a second portion 38b with a second resistance different from the first resistance by a predetermined value or more, moves at a predetermined speed, and conveys the development agent image transferred to a recording medium or the development agent image transferred on the conveyance belt. The image forming apparatus includes: an application means 62 which applies a high voltage Vt to the conveyance belt 38; detection means (63, 64) which detect the value of the high voltage applied to the conveyance belt 38 or the value of a current by application of the high voltage; and a control means 61 which obtains the position of the second part 38b of the conveyance belt based on a change in the detected voltage value or current value and performs the image forming control with obtaining the position of the second part.
