PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of improving productivity by shortening the first print time to increase the speed of image forming processing. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the invocation of image forming start operation in the image forming apparatus except a fixing device is started at the time which is at least earlier than the completion of temperature rise of the fixing device and satisfies T≤S wherein S is the time required from the start of the invocation of image forming start operation in the image forming apparatus except the fixing device to entrance of an image recording medium into a fixing member of the fixing device and T is a predicted time remaining till reach to a target temperature of the fixing member after the start of temperature rise of the fixing device, and the image recording medium is made enter the fixing device simultaneously with the completion of temperature rise of the fixing device. Consequently, not only the first print time is shortened without poor fixing to be able to improve the productivity but also the power consumption required for maintaining the temperature of the fixing device can be reduced to be able to save energy.
