PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which hardly causes displacement relative to movements of a wearer and shows excellent leakage preventing performance. SOLUTION: The absorbent article 10 is equipped with a vertically long absorbent body 20 and a pair of wing parts 21 extending from both side edges of the absorbent body 20 in a width direction. The wing parts 21 include a water-absorbing expanding and contracting material 30 which is capable of absorbing fluids, expanding, and contracting. The expanding and contracting material 30 is equipped with a base sheet 40 showing expanding and contracting properties and a plurality of absorbing parts 50 which are disposed on one surface of the base sheet 40 and individually independent. The absorbing part 50 is fixed on the base sheet 40 through a fixing point 53 in a manner that the shape is not altered when the base sheet 40 is expanded or contracted.
