PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meter reading system capable of efficiently registering information related to a consumer in a wireless master unit, a wireless slave unit and a meter without using an exclusive setting apparatus when newly installing the meter. SOLUTION: In the meter reading system for acquiring a using amount of each consumer requested from a center monitoring device from a metering device, a mobile terminal capable of transmitting and receiving e-mail to/from the center monitoring device acquires an identifier specifying the consumer and respective identifiers specifying the wireless slave unit and the wireless master unit connected to the metering device utilized by the consumer, and transmits a registration request to respective apparatuses to the center monitoring device. The center monitoring device transmits the information set for each consumer to be registered to the wireless master unit, the wireless slave unit and the metering device preset in the center monitoring device through a network to the wireless master unit on the basis of the registration request received from the mobile terminal. The wireless master unit performs wireless transmission to the wireless slave unit, and the wireless master, the wireless slave unit and the metering device register the received information set for each consumer respectively.
