PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, determining whether deposits are attached to an intake system or an exhaust gas recirculation system, while restricting generation of deposits. SOLUTION: An ECU 100 estimates the engine temperature (step S3), and in the case where the engine temperature is less than a predetermined value, determines whether deposits attached (step S4).
