<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element replacement device for a microscope, which prevents erroneous recognition when an optical element is replaced. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical element replacing device for the microscope includes: a hold member that holds a plurality of optical elements so that they are detachable and that can selectively put the plurality of optical elements in a position on an optical axis and in an optical element replacement position; identification information that is disposed on the hold member and identifies each of the plurality of optical elements; a detection means for detecting the identification information; a storage means for storing optical element information of each optical element together with the identification information; an operation means for inputting the element information to the storage means and specifying optical elements put in the position on the optical axis and the optical element replacement position; and a control means by which the hold member is operated according to the identification information of the specified optical element, the identification information of the optical element is detected by the detection means, then, the optical element is put in the optical element replacement position, and the input state of new optical element information corresponding to the identification information is displayed on the operation means.
