摘要 An underlayer includes concentric soft magnetic bodies extending along the surface of a substrate. The soft magnetic bodies are separated from one another by concentric nonmagnetic bodies and configured to have the axis of easy magnetization set parallel to the surface of the substrate. A magnetic recording film extends along the surface of the underlayer. The magnetic recording film is configured to have the axis of easy magnetization in the perpendicular direction orthogonal to the surface of the substrate. The nonmagnetic bodies are arranged at pitch intervals each equal to or smaller than half a predetermined track pitch. The nonmagnetic bodies serve to restrict the flow of magnetic field in the radial direction in the underlayer. The magnetic field is prevented from acting on the adjacent recording tracks. The inversion of magnetization is reduced in the adjacent recording tracks. Side track erasure is suppressed.
