摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time for the starting of a gap control operation or the like, and to increase the precision and speed of the gap control operation. <P>SOLUTION: The laser beam machining device (1) where a laser beam injected from a machining nozzle (24) is condensed, and, while irradiating a workpiece (W) therewith, the machining nozzle and the workpiece are relatively moved based on a machining program so as to machine the workpiece comprises: a control shaft (29) fitted with the machining nozzle; a driving part (22) driving the control shaft in such a manner that the machining nozzle is progressed toward the workpiece and is retreated from the workpiece; a servo control part (12) controlling the driving part; a position detection part 23 detecting the position of the driving part; and a gap sensor (25) detecting a gap between the machining nozzle and the workpiece.
