PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow each shared user to safely use a personal digital assistant with complete privacy protection when a single personal digital assistant is shared by a plurality of users. SOLUTION: The personal digital assistant has a user setting means to associate a button depression state at system activation, a user, and a prompt timing for input of user recognition information and set them as user setting information, a setting information storage means to store the user setting information set with the user setting means into a memorizing means, a designated user activation means to detect a button depression at system activation, use the user setting information stored in the memorizing means to identify the user corresponding to the button depression state detected and allow system activation with the user, and a user confirmation means to prompt for input of user identification information at an input prompting timing set with the user setting means after system activation with the designated user activation means and determine whether the user is valid or not using the input data.
