PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flatten the temperature distribution of a heating portion of a thermal printing head. SOLUTION: The thermal printing head includes: an insulating substrate, for example, on the surface of which a glaze layer 25 is formed; a plurality of resistor layers which are arranged on a surface of the insulating substrate and extend in a direction perpendicular to the arranging direction; paired electrodes 73 and 74 which are provided on the respective resistor layers and connected to the resistor layers at a pair of ends separate in the direction where the resistor layer extends; and a heater division body 75 formed of an electric conductor with which a part of the surface of the resistor layer is covered between the opposed ends of the paired electrodes 73 and 74 on a heating element plate of the thermal printing head. Thus, two resistance heating portions 71 and 72 are formed. The electrodes 73 and 74 are formed of an electric conductor such as Al. It is desirable to form the heater division body 75 of Mo, W, Ni or Ti having higher heat resistance than the electrodes 73 and 74. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
