AIR CONDITIONER AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a control method are provided to reduce the damage of a check valve and valve noise by modifying the vibration of a check valve. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises: an outdoor heat exchanger(12); an indoor heat exchanger(21); a receiver(14); a check valve(18) which is installed in a pipe which interlinks the outdoor heat exchanger and the receiver and allows the refrigerant to flow from the outdoor heat exchanger to the receiver; a refrigerant valve which is connected to the check valve in parallel; a controller which reduced the pressure of the receiver by opening the refrigerant valve if the pressure of both ends of the check valve is reversed in the cooling operation; and a compressor(10) which proceeds a loading operation which refrigerant is compressed and an unloading operation which stops the compressing of the refrigerant.
