<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt tension measuring apparatus capable of easily and accurately measuring the tension of even a single extended belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The belt tension measuring apparatus includes a compressive load detection means provided with an elastically deformable strain element 4 to which a strain gauge 3a is pasted for connecting a contact rod 1 and a support rod 2 to be pressed against a belt W in an extended state and detecting a compressive load exerted in the longitudinal direction of the rods; a belt tension computation means for deriving a tension value of the belt W on the basis of the compressive load detected by the detection means; a belt bending angle detection means from which a pair of switches 8a and 8b are suspended from both sides of a support member 7, in which a center part is inserted over the contact rod 1, in such a way as not to protrude from the tip of the contact rod 1 for detecting both the time when the pair of switches 8a and 8b are closed and a prescribed belt bending angle; and a belt tension value reporting means for reporting a tension value of the belt W when detected by the detection means.
