The method involves detecting a reference value for rotational speed of a turbocharger shaft, based on a compressor map corresponding to mass flow rate and pressure ratio along a compressor. The rotational speed is controlled based on the detected reference value and a reference value for supercharging pressure downstream of the compressor. The mass flow rate is standardized based on pressure and/or temperature upstream of a turbocharger. The pressure ratio is standardized based on a detected value of the rotational speed. An independent claim is also included for a device for supercharging-pressure control in a motor vehicle.
