The method involves forming an integrated cooling channel (3) at a lower part (2) of a cooling plate (1) using a non-cutting mechanical deformation. The cooling channel is formed in several adjacent rows of meander-shaped windings in the lower part. The lower part is made of metal such as aluminum or copper. The cooling channel is formed by cold forging or deep drawing is formed. The cooling channel is closed by placing a cover plate (4) on the lower part, where the cover plate is made of aluminum or copper. An independent claim is also included for a battery with a cooling plate.
