The system has a transporting device (1) for transporting a stack (St) in a transporting direction (T1). Stacking direction (SR) of the stack lies perpendicular to the transporting direction during transporting of the stack. A transferring device (29) transfers the stack from the transporting device to another transporting device (28). The latter transporting device transports the stack to a differentiator (20) in another transporting direction (T2). The latter transporting direction lies perpendicular to the former transporting direction and opposite to the stacking direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for sorting flat objects.
