<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise convergence to a target value of an EGR rate of an exhaust gas recirculation system accompanying an internal combustion engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A control device is provided by combining a sliding mode controller 51 with two input and two output wherein the EGR valve opening degree 45 and a nozzle vane opening degree 42 of a variable turbo serve as control input and the EGR rate 11 and internal pressure of an intake pipe 12 serve as control output, and a feedforward controller 52 for operating by calculation positions of a throttle valve 33 according to a varied amount of the target value of the EGR rate.
