<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a liquid discharge head constituted by stacking a cavity unit, a protecting layer, and an actuator, and to reduce the number of parts thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid discharge head has the cavity unit 2 comprised of a plurality of layered cavity plates 11-16, the actuator 3 stacked on the surface of the cavity unit 2 opposite to a nozzle opening surface 2a, and the protecting layer 6 interposed between the cavity unit 2 and the actuator 3. The protecting layer 6 has an extension part 8 which extends outside to the cavity unit 2. The extension part 8 is folded back on the outside of the cavity unit 2, constituting at least one of the cavity plates 11-16. For example, the extension part 8 has through-holes 12b forming throttling channels 23, and functions as a connecting channel plate member 12.
