The present invention relates to acyl amide compound capable of inducing cancer cell apoptosis. More specifically, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and treatment of cancers comprising an extract of Piper longum or acylamide compound isolated therefrom as an active ingredient based on the discovery that the extract of Piper longum or acylamide compound isolated therefrom is capable of activation of caspase, an apoptotic enzyme, thereby reducing the size of tumor.
