<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the circuit size of a device for enabling an image expanding or compressing process capable of meeting a plurality of image formats. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an image expander capable of expanding image data of a first image format. In the image expander, when processing third image data of a second image format other than the first image format, luminance components from second image data are shared. Besides, the image expander is provided with a fifth processing function (110) for creating a plurality of the third image data of the first format different in color component, a sixth processing function (160) for performing an expanding arithmetic process of a plurality of the second image data by using hardware for performing an inverse discrete cosine transform process and an inverse quantizing process about the image data of the first image format, and a seventh processing function (170) for combining the plurality of the second image data subjected to the expanding arithmetic process with the first format. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
