905,631. Ball-bearings. BARGMANN, E. June 25, 1959 [June 28, 1958], No. 21767/59. Class 12 (1). A single-row ball-bearing swivel connection for mounting a rotating superstructure 8 of a revolving crane on an undercarriage 4, has narrow vertical faces 10, 12 and 11, 13 on its rings 1 and 2, 3. The faces are offset and allow ball-races, formed by the rings, to have their thicker portions adjacent the points of application of the maximum load. The rings 2, 3 are held by a bolt 7 to the superstructure 8 and the ring 1 is held by a bolt 6 to the under-carriage 4. The rings 2, 3 facilitate insertion and removal of balls 9 and permit the receiving of a ball retainer 16 in a groove 17 formed at the joint of the rings 2, 3. A ring- gear 5, having internal or external teeth, may be integral with the ring 1 or attached separately to the undercarriage 4. The balls are unequally spaced so that the race wears evenly. In a modification the ball retainer is a solid ring made in two parts and a groove is provided in the ring 1 to receive the retainer.
