An apparatus for transporting fibre material between a drafting arrangement and a mesh-forming machine is described. The apparatus contains at least two consecutively arranged transporting units which each have an inlet opening and outlet opening and are each formed from a twisting element (16a, 16b, 16c) and a transporting tube (17a, 17b, 17c) connected to the latter, wherein a gap (27a, 27b) which is intended for the formation of a ventilation opening is provided between an outlet end (28) of a preceding transporting unit (16a, 17a) and the inlet end of a following transporting unit (16b, 17b). According to the invention, a suction device (31a, 31b) is arranged in the region of said gap (27a, 27b).
