PURPOSE: A device and a method for measuring blood pressure are provided to correct the blood pressure of the artery of a finger or wrist to the brachial artery using a pulse wave transmission speed. CONSTITUTION: A blood pressure measurement unit(720) measures the blood pressure of a finger or wrist. A pulse wave transmission speed measuring unit(730) measures the pulse wave transmission speed. The pulse wave transmission speed measuring unit includes an electrocardiogram electrode unit and an optical sensor. The electrocardiogram electrode unit measures the electrocardiogram signal. The optical sensor measures the pulse wave signal. A controller(710) corrects the blood pressure of the finger or wrist to the brachial artery using the pulse wave transmission speed. A display unit(750) displays the corrected blood pressure of the finger or wrist.
