PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting the thickness of media of an automated media dispenser are provided to prevent the collision between a bent media and a detection roller by including an incline guide at an entrance to the detection roller. CONSTITUTION: A reference roller(16) is installed in a frame(10). A detection roller(30) adheres closely a media to the reference roller. The media passes through the transfer channel(14). The transfer channel is formed in the frame. A shielding plate(38) is connected to the shaft of rollers of the detection roller. A sensor(40) detects the thickness of the media with the change of the light. The light change is changed by the shielding plate. The incline guide(20) is included before the entry of the reference roller and the detection roller. The inclined guide prevents the collision between the leading end of media and the detection roller.
