<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that has an operation panel rotated around a vertical shaft without increasing the size of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Bolts 203L and 203R projecting from the back of a panel body 201 are inserted into the guide holes 202 of a base 200 and their separation is prevented by washers 204 and so on. The panel body 201 slides in the direction of arrow B along the guide holes 202. When the panel body 201 reaches the right end, it rotates in the direction of arrow D around the bolt 203L serving as its rotation shaft. Both the bolts 203L and 203R are attached to positions away from the middle part of the panel body 201. In addition, the panel body 201 rotates so that the bolt that does not serve as a rotation shaft moves apart from the body of the image forming apparatus 1.
