PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pants type absorbent article whose side sealing part does not easily become hard. SOLUTION: The pants type disposable diaper 1A includes a vertically long absorbent body 5 provided with a surface sheet 2, a back surface sheet 3 and an absorbent 4 interposed between both sheets, and a package material 6 on the side of the back surface sheet 3, and has a pair of side sealing parts 8 formed by fusion-bonding a piled-up part 7 for which both side edge parts 6a of an abdominal side part A and both side edge parts 6b of a back side part B are piled up. The package material 6 includes an outer layer sheet 61 forming the outer surface of the article, an inner layer sheet 62 disposed on the inner surface side of the outer layer sheet 61, and fold-back parts 61a and 61b or 62a and 62b for which the longitudinal direction outer part from the absorbent body 5 of the outer layer sheet 61 or the inner surface sheet 62 is folded back to the side of the inner layer sheet 62. The piled-up part 7 is formed of the package material 6, and the number of members configuring the piled-up part 7 is the same number at any part of the piled-up part 7.
