CEILING CORNICE FOR SEISMIC ISOLATION, EXPANSION JOINT FOR SEISMIC ISOLATION, AND METHOD OF REFURBISHING SEISMIC ISOLATING CEILING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the position of a ceiling underlayer at normal times and to prevent collapse of a ceiling upon earthquake occurrence by integrating the whole ceiling and also imparting flexibility to the ceiling underlayer.

SOLUTION: A ceiling cornice for seismic isolation includes: a vertical part 111 fitted to a wall 200; a horizontal part 112 projecting in a substantially horizontal direction from the vertical part 111 below the ceiling and formed to have the width larger than that of a space between an end part of the ceiling and the wall 200; and a displacement absorbing part 13 arranged in the space above the horizontal part 112. The displacement absorbing part 13 comprises a first member 131 an end part of which is in contact with the vertical member 111, and a second member 132. The other end part of the first member 131 is slidably inserted into the second member 132 from an end part of the second member 132. The second member 132 is arranged in a manner that the other end part faces an end part of the ceiling. The displacement absorbing part 13 further comprises an elastic member 133 arranged between the end part of the first member 131 and the other end part of the second member 132.
