<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the abnormal/normal condition of a high pressure fuel pump at an early stage without impairing fuel pressure controllability, in such an operating condition in which a sufficient drive signal-on period to execute abnormality diagnosis cannot be secured by fuel pressure control. <P>SOLUTION: A solenoid control means 101 includes an abnormality diagnosis means 104 for diagnosing the abnormality of a solenoid in the state that a solenoid drive signal is turned on/off, a drive signal-on abnormality diagnosis execution determining means 102 for determining that a sufficient drive signal-on period to execute abnormality diagnosis can be secured during the operation of an internal combustion engine, and a forcible abnormality diagnosis executing means 103 for forcibly turning on the solenoid drive signal in a predetermined phase where fuel is not discharged into a pressure chamber in the case of determination that the abnormality diagnosis cannot be executed. In such an operating condition that the sufficient drive signal-on period to execute the abnormality diagnosis cannot be secured with fuel pressure control, it forcibly turns on the solenoid drive signal in a specified phase where fuel pressure controllability is not impaired, to diagnose the abnormality of the solenoid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
