<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavator for jacking method for reducing the friction resistance associated with a rotary drive and the propelling of the outer circumference of a cutter head outer, the outer circumference of an excavator body and the circumference of an embedded pipe with the ground by preventing rock powder from penetrating into clearances between each of the cutter head outer circumference, the excavator outer circumference and the embedded pipe outer circumference and the ground in a simple structure without increasing the excavation diameter. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The excavator for jacking method includes a cutter head having an excavating bit on the front surface, which is pressed toward a working face side by a jack and rotationally driven by a drive means; and a rock powder engulfment preventing projection provided on the whole outer circumference of the tip of the cutter head. The projection has a uniform thickness in the radial direction of the cutter head, and includes corrugated irregularities continued to the working face along the circumferential direction of the cutter head.
