PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for growing a crystal, whereby a melt held in a second vessel can be supplied to a first vessel for growing a crystal even in a vertical Bridgman method, and a melt in the first vessel can be suppressed in causing of vibration when supplying the melt thereto. SOLUTION: The first vessel 100 holds a seed crystal 50 and the melt 52 for crystal growth. The second vessel 200 holds the melt 54 for refilling. The melt 54 for refilling held in the second vessel 200 is supplied to the first vessel 100 through a melt-supplying portion. The melt-supplying portion is equipped with an opening 220 and a guide section. The opening 220 is placed at a side wall or the upper face of the second vessel 200, and is positioned higher than the molten face of the melt 52 in the first vessel 100. The guide section guides the melt 54 to the molten face of the melt 52 in the first vessel 100 by passing the melt 54 for refilling which is overflowed from the opening 220.
