<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce weight and the manufacturing cost of a press formed product having a hat-shaped cross section. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A press formed product 120 having the hat-shaped cross section has a pair of side wall parts 124A, 124B separated from each other, and a connecting wall part 126 for connecting ends of the side wall parts 124A, 124B to each other, and is manufactured from a preform. The thickness of the connecting wall part 126 at a part 136 in the extending direction Y of the hat-shaped cross section and the thickness of the side wall part 124B are at least partially increased by the press forming compared with the thickness before the press forming. The thickness of a part 137 whose thickness is increased is larger than that of peripheral parts 124A, 132, 138 of the part 137. Further, a part whose thickness is increased at the connecting wall part 126 and a part whose thickness is increased at the side wall part 124B are integrated with each other via a corner part for connecting the connecting wall part 126 to the side wall part 124B.
