PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, which is excellent in the erection of leakage proof walls at both side parts of the article, effectively prevents the side leakage of once absorbed liquid or the like, eliminates a thrusting feeling with delicate touch, prevents such a feeling on the appearance as well, and can be manufactured without needing complicated manufacture processes. SOLUTION: In the absorbent article 10, a side sheet 2 extended in an article longitudinal direction in a worn state to form a leakage proof wall 1 erected on a skin surface side is disposed at both side parts in the longitudinal direction of a surface sheet 4, and the side sheet 2 forms an erectable free end part at the end part at the abdominal side front part and/or the back side rear part. In the meantime, at the peripheral edge part of both corners at the front among the four corners of the absorbent article, the contour line of the peripheral edge part has a concave curve recessed inwards relative to a virtual curve convexed outward, and the front end part of the erectable side sheet 2 is present in the middle of the concave curve.
