[Also in Groups XIX and XXXVIII] A two terminal network used for balancing purposes in a magnetic intelligence-storage apparatus has electrical characteristics equivalent to those of a magnetic recording head. The coil L1 is wound upon a magnetic core identical to the core of the head and has an adjustable gap. When this gap is adjusted to make the remanent flux equal to that of the head it is found necessary to add an air-cored coil L2 to balance out the inductance of the head. A resistor R1 and a coupled circuit L3, R2 respectively balance out the resistance and eddy-current effects in the head. Specification 786,721, [Group XIX], is referred to. |
