The device has a container (1) including a housing (3) with a lockable opening (4) for filling along and/or withdrawal of vouchers. A sensor (2) i.e. hall sensor, is coupled with a safety mechanism. The container with the lockable opening is positioned in an opened position with respect to a withdrawal unit of a vending machine. The withdrawal unit includes a signal generator i.e. magnet, that is detectable by the sensor, when the container is utilized in the vending machine. The safety mechanism is activated by a control unit that is coupled with the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for activating a safety mechanism of a voucher container in a voucher vending machine.
