A credential substrate laminator (100) comprises a frame (172), a credential substrate transport mechanism (113) and a laminating roller assembly (170). The credential substrate transport mechanism is configured to transport a credential substrate (110) along a processing path (112). The laminating roller assembly (170) comprises a movable support (183) supported by the frame, a laminating roller (160) and a lift mechanism (190). The laminating roller is attached to the movable support. The lift mechanism is attached to the frame and is configured to move the movable support and the attached laminating roller relative to the frame and the processing path.
