PURPOSE: Voice coil temperature measuring apparatus and method are provided to improve the performance of the actuator using the voice coil by indirectly measuring the temperature of the voice coil by measuring the current flowing in the voice coil. CONSTITUTION: A voice coil temperature measuring apparatus(100) comprises a voice coil(120), a voice coil motor driving unit(110), a current measurement unit(130), a memory(140), and a controller(150). The voice coil motor driving unit supplies the driving current for driving the voice coil to the voice coil. The current measurement unit measures the current flowing in the voice coil. The memory stores the current value measured by the current measurement unit. The controller transmits the control signal for driving the voice coil to the voice coil motor driving unit to supply the driving current to the voice coil and reads the current value flowing in the voice coil from the memory to calculate the temperature of the voice coil.
