<p>Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling traffic flow. For this purpose, information about the time duration until a traffic light (3) is switched to another traffic light phase is utilized in order to provide a speed recommendation for approaching the traffic light (3) to the driver of a vehicle (6). In order to improve the determination of the speed recommendation, the invention provides that the position (P) and the switching times (Si) of a traffic light (3) are deposited in a database (2) and can be retrieved by a vehicle (6) via a mobile radio communication connection (5), and that the driver of the vehicle (6) is provided with the speed recommendation by utilizing this information.</p> |
