COIL UNIT AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING APPARATUS

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect the abnormality of an element coil even while being in the configuration of outputting only signals for which the output signals of the plurality of element coils are combined. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The output signals of the element coils 81-1 to 81-3 for receiving magnetic resonance signals are combined with each other by a combiner 83-1. TR switches 82-1 to 82-3 individually turn on/off the input to the combiner 83-1 of the output signals of the element coils 81-1 to 81-3 by individually turning on/off the output of signals from the element coils 81-1 to 81-3. A controller 84-1 controls the TR switches 82-1 to 82-3 so as to simultaneously input at least two output signals to the combiner 83-1 in the period of gathering the magnetic resonance signals for imaging and to input only one output signal to the combiner 83-1 for the time of an inspection.
