PURPOSE: A digital photographing device and a control method thereof are provided to control a frowned face to be not taken by recognizing the frowned face about photographing image inputted in real time. CONSTITUTION: A facial area detector(91) detects a face range from a photographing image. A facial expression recognizer(92) recognizes a frowned face gesture of the face range. A photographing controller controls photographing according to whether the frowned face gesture is recognized. After the frowned face gesture of the face range is recognized, a user notification controller(93b) generates a user notification signal.
