PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that facilitates focus adjustment while achieving reduction of weight and cost. SOLUTION: The projector 1 which projects to display an image based on input image information includes: a focus adjustment part 341 performing the focus adjustment of a projected image; a guidance screen generation part 87 generating a guidance screen to assist the focus adjustment of the image by the focus adjustment part 341; and an image display means 3 projecting and displaying the image and the image of the guidance screen. Accordingly, the focus adjustment of the projected image by the focus adjustment part 341 is easily performed by referring to the guidance screen projected by a projection lens 33.
