The sensor device (100) has a hall-sensor (110) and a reference current source (120) for supplying the hall-sensor with reference current (I-ref). The reference current source is formed to change the direction of current of the reference current by the hall-sensor. The reference current source has a constant current source and a controllable switch matrix. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a sensor device.
