PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality, and to balance cost and speed by generating a gradation correction parameter by acquiring data for a screen used for a region wherein gradation is regarded important more than data for a screen used for regions wherein gradation is not regarded important. SOLUTION: Each path stream is comprised of patches having only a monochromatic component of K, C, M, or Y. In picture pattern portions, there are included patches outputted with the same colors and the same gradation values (patches of K08 in a picture pattern portion K201 and K08 in a picture pattern portion K221) at two positions and in character portions, there are included patches outputted with the same colors and the same gradation values at one position.
