PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus improved in bleed resistance and stickiness resistance of formed images, excelling in scratch resistance and printable even on a recording medium with a low softening point. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for an inkjet recording method forms an image by jetting photo-curable inkjet ink containing a coloring material, a photo-curable monomer, a photo-initiator and a gelling agent, onto a recording medium 4 and then photo-curing the ink using a light irradiation device 3. The illuminance of the light irradiation device is 0.1 to 50 mW/cm<SP>2</SP>. The apparatus further includes a heating means for controlling the photo-curable inkjet ink to have a temperature higher by at least 5°C than the gelling temperature of the photo-curable inkjet ink, and a temperature control means for controlling the recording medium to have a surface temperature lower by at least 5°C than the gelling temperature of the photo-curable inkjet ink.
