METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING THUMBNAIL OF MOVING PICTURE

PURPOSE: A video thumbnail generator with improved video discrimination capability is provided to enable a user to obtain thumbnail images by creating a candidate frame corresponding to a thumbnail image condition as a thumbnail image among the candidate frames of the thumbnail image. CONSTITUTION: A video thumbnail generator detects a face area from the inputted frames(304). In case the face area is detected, the apparatus detects a face feature(306). The apparatus decides a property(308). Based on the face feature and the property, the apparatus decides candidate frames(310). If photography is completed, the apparatus selects the candidate frame which is similar to a set condition among the candidate frames(314,316). The apparatus creates the selected candidate frame as to a thumbnail image(318).
