Welding is performed by supplying welding output between a welding wire and an object to be welded, while supplying a first gas, the supply of the aforementioned first gas is stopped and the supply of a second gas is started before stopping the welding output, and then the welding output being supplied between the welding wire and the object to be welded is stopped after the supply of the second gas has been started, thereby suppressing the production of slag in the bead at the wire tip when welding is terminated.
