The common rail fuel injection system has a fuel pressure sensor (16) with a sensor element, to output a voltage signal as a function of a pressure of the fuel stored within a common rail (12). An electronic control unit controls the pressure of the fuel within the common rail based on the voltage signal. A voltage sampling circuit samples the drive voltage applied to the sensor element. A voltage error monitor monitors whether the drive voltage as sampled by the voltage sampling circuit, is in error or not. |
