A thermoplastic melt is forced through spinneret plate 3 to form the hollow filament. The hole 4 has two portions of different diameters and inserted in the smaller bottom portion in force fitted relationship is, metal insert 7 which engages the periphery at three points at least. The molten streams of subdivided polymer tend to coalesce to form a coherent stream which solidifies to form a hollow filament. Various shapes of inserts are illustrated in Figures (not shown). |
